Overview

Nestled in the heart of Paris's 11th arrondissement, Chez Loulou offers a genuine taste of French comfort with a twist of North African influence. Situated at 51 Rue de Montreuil, this restaurant presents a warm and quirky atmosphere that invites you to step away from the city’s formal dining scene and enjoy something real and satisfying.

The culinary experience here revolves around traditional dishes that emphasize quality and authenticity. Highlights like braised pork paired with lentils and the classic tajine showcase the kitchen’s mastery of slow-cooked, flavorful preparations. The menu also features fresh seafood such as “Noix de Saint Jacques,” complemented by fresh vegetables and artisanal cheeses, creating a balance of hearty and refined. For dessert, the brioche au caramel and brioche perdue provide a comforting conclusion to the meal, pairing perfectly with a robust French coffee.

The space itself embraces a cozy, unpretentious charm, decorated with warmth rather than ostentation. It feels like a neighborhood gem where locals and visitors alike come together. The service is personal and engaging, particularly through interactions with the owner who may not speak English fluently but communicates through passion and genuine hospitality. This adds an element of cultural immersion that enriches the overall dining adventure.

Chez Loulou’s crowd ranges from brunch lovers craving fresh juices and avocado-laden plates to evening guests seeking robust French cooking with generous portions, especially noted in their couscous offerings. While pricing remains fair, the focus is on portion size and quality rather than upscale presentation. A visit here means embracing a casual, relaxed environment where you can savor authentic flavors without any pretense.

If you’re in Paris and keen to experience a culinary niche that honors tradition and local ingredients, this spot is worth your time. It delivers a memorable meal marked by genuine tastes, laid-back appeal, and the kind of charm that makes you want to come back for more.

Really nice place to go with friends. Quality of food really good. Personnel really handsome and helpful. Average prices, but couscous portions are quite big. I will surely return. And we are from Italy,, so we should know what is good food Good job guys!

As quirky as can be, but a fun experience and the food was tradional and very nice. The owner does not speak English, but if you choose his recommendations, you can't go wrong. We had a mushroom soup, softly braised pork with lentils and pain perdu for dessert. If you prefer a modern restaurant with modern food, just go elsewhere, but if you would enjoy a culinary mini adventure in Paris, do come in!

Very quirky restaurant in the best of ways. Food was excellent and the interaction with the owner/server was entertaining. Come with an open mind for communication and with a mouth ready to experience really good food at a reasonable price. Cozy decor. Practice your French before entering:)

Lovely brunch or coffee place! Cute venue and great menu (a lot of avocados, eggs, coffee and fresh juices - a millennial’s dream lol). Perhaps the prices are higher than the norm, but it stay affordable :) Only downside is the wait when you come in during busy hours!

GREAT French cooking made with the freshest ingredients, served up without pretense or frill, and at a most reasonable price. Please take note: 1) What this resto lacks in formality and stuffiness, it makes up for in deliciousness and authenticity. 2) Both the menu and wine list are limited. Since every choice we made proved to be one worth savoring, I'm pretty sure you'll also be delighted and content this absolutely charming neighborhood gem.

Imagine eating at your quirky uncle’s place who is a magnificent chef. If you go without expectations of being in a normal restaurant, you can love it here. The food was excellent and great abnormal date idea. We waited a while for the service but the chef was delightful and we had a great time. Prices were excellent for the quality of food. You have to reserve in advance, and if you’re lucky he will let you in.
